Spring is coming!

I've always thought of myself as a winter person. I love cold nights, and clear night skies, wrapping up warm and all the celebrations associated with this time of year.

But I've really started to notice how much I'm looking forward to Spring. I'm looking for new growth in our (quite neglected) garden and am genuinely happy to see crocuses and daffodils poking through the soil. I think we even have birds building a nest in the bird box attached to the house!

And Spring is having an influence on my designs for jewellery at the moment. I have a showcase coming up on 27th March over on The Jewellery Show, Facebook and have been making some pretty flower earrings. Each pair of flowers is hand cut from recycled sterling silver sheet,  then filed and sanded smooth and lightly oxidised for an antiqued finish. Next I've set semi-precious gemstones in the centre of the flowers - in the picture you can see the larger flowers have amethysts in the centre, and the two smaller pairs have pink jade and moonstone. I've made some larger flowers with blue chalcedony and will make some smaller pairs with lavender and pink jade. A bouquet!

Here's to blue skies and new growth
